NABARD sponsored training concluded on Scientific Goat Farming at KVK Namsai

31st July 2021, Namsai: A five days training for Animal Health workers by ICAR-KVK, Namsai concluded on Saturday. It was a part of the project funded by NABARD to KVK with titled “Nutritional Security and Sustainable Livelihood, Improvement of Tribal through scientific goat farming in Namsai District.

DDM, NABARD, Kamal Roy, attended the today’s programme as Chief Guest and distributed the certificates and surgical kits to 20 progressive livestock farmers of different villages of Namsai. The main objective of the training was to empowered the rural youth with basic knowledge of treatment of Farm animals & Poultry. The training mainly focused on veterinary first aids treatment along with applications of different medicines to disease animals through different routes.

The training covered all aspects of procedures and line of treatments including restrain of different animals (Different Casting methods), treatment of fresh or maggoted wound, abscess, cyst, foot rot etc. and medications through Intra Venus( i/v), Intra muscular (i/m), Sub-cutaneous (s/c), Intra-ruminal etc. Farmers were trained on treatment methodology, preventive and control measures of different animals and birds. For diagnosis of some important disease in poultry, Post Mortem examination was also conducted during the training programme and showed the different internal vital parts of poultry and how they changes/ affected at various diseases. A field visit was also made to show the scientific approach of goat rearing at village level.

Course Director cum Master trainer, Dr. Binod Kr. Dutta Borah demonstrated the castration in piglets in open method and goat in close method. During the training programme he also showed the methodology of liquid semen collection, preservation from improved goat breeds of institutional farm and how to do insemination in estrus female at village level.

Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Namsai, Dr. Debasis Sasmal, appreciated the training programme and asked the trainees to provide services to their respective village.

DDM, NABARD Kamal Roy highlighted about farmers producers’ organizations and other schemes available to farmers. He also informed about different schemes which farmers can avail through banks.
