Empowering Women through Food Processing Skills: MEDP Launched in Namleng Village

Bordumsa, November 9, 2023: A wave of empowerment swept through Namleng Village, Bordumsa, Changlang, as the Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) on Food Processing was inaugurated on Thursday. This transformative initiative, sponsored by NABARD's Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office, will be spearheaded by the Changlang Community Resource Management Society (CCRMS) in collaboration with the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM).

The programme, meticulously designed to equip women with the skills and knowledge to establish their own food processing ventures, will provide comprehensive training to 30 enthusiastic members from various SHGs. The training will encompass the intricacies of food processing techniques, ensuring that participants can produce high-quality bakery products that meet market demands.

Dignitaries graced the occasion, including NABARD's District Development Manager (DDM), Kamal Roy; DPD, CCRMS, Nanju Simai Tithak; LDM, SBI, Binod Yadav; Asst. Commandant, CRPF, Tarkeshwar Kaji; and BMM, Jasmina Tankhu, ArSRLM.

In her welcome address, CCRMS's District Project Director, Nanju Simai Tikhak, emphasized the programme's objective of enhancing bakery product quality and production while aligning with market demand.

DDM Kamal Roy underscored NABARD's commitment to empowering SHG members through skill development and competence building, enabling them to launch micro-enterprises with the support of bank credit. He also highlighted NABARD's diverse developmental programs designed to benefit SHGs and farmers.

SBI's LDM, Binod Yadav, motivated the SHGs to wholeheartedly embrace the training, emphasizing the importance of quality and pricing competitiveness in achieving sustainable income generation. He also elaborated on financial inclusion and the advantages of various flagship schemes such as PMJJBY, PMSBY, and APY.

Asst. Commandant, CRPF, Tarkeshwar Kaji, acknowledged the limited availability of government jobs and encouraged rural residents to acquire skills aligned with their qualifications to become entrepreneurs, thereby securing livelihoods and contributing to the nation's progress.

ArSRLM's BMM, Jasmina Tankhu, congratulated the trainees on their selection and encouraged them to embrace entrepreneurship. She emphasized the significance of skill training in elevating the socio-economic status of rural communities, particularly women entrepreneurs.

The MEDP launch in Namleng Village marks a significant step towards empowering women in rural areas, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to become self-reliant entrepreneurs and contribute to the region's economic growth.
