Empowering SHGs through MEDPs on Mushroom Cultivation and Bakery Products at in Vibrant Villages of Hayuliang

Hayuliang, 15th December 2023: The recently concluded Mushroom Cultivation MEDP for SHGs reached its culmination on Friday in Hayuliang, Anjaw, marking a significant step towards empowering SHGs. The valedictory ceremony, accompanied by a certificate distribution programme, was honoured by the presence of Damodar Mishra, GM, NABARD, Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office. Other distinguished participants included ADC, Hayuliang, Julity Mihu; ZPC, Anjaw, Soblem Pul; ZPM, Hayuliang, Anjoy Ama; DDM NABARD, Kamal Roy; GPMs of vibrant villages Kongra, Zapliang, Hayuliang, and Glotong; President, BLCCT, Chandan Prasad; Coordinator, SSRDPT, Bhusan Rai; BMM, ArSRLM, Anthony Jugli, and SHG members.

GM NABARD utilized the occasion to launch another MEDP focusing on various Bakery Products for SHGs. The mobilization of all SHGs was facilitated with the support of the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM). The Mushroom Cultivation and Bakery Products MEDPs were executed by Sri Sri Rural Development Programme Trust (SSRDPT) and Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT) respectively, with sponsorship from NABARD.

All the SHGs were from different villages of Hayuliang, which have been identified under the Vibrant Village Programme of the Government of India.

In his engaging welcoming address, BLCCT President, Chandan Prasad, heightened the significance of the MEDPs in uplifting rural livelihoods. He shared valuable insights from his experiences in implementing various MEDPs, highlighting success stories that serve as inspiration for the community.

GM NABARD, Damodar Mishra, extended heartfelt congratulations to the SHGs and PIAs for the successful completion of the MEDPs. His motivational words encouraged the SHGs to extract maximum benefits from the programs, emphasizing that completion of such a program is not the end but the beginning of new steps in the direction of making SHG members true entrepreneurs, and keep the development process moving. He urged upon all the stakeholders to ensure derived outcomes from the initiative.

ADC, Hayuliang, Julity Mihu, congratulated all the trained SHGs and assured all the support from the administration side.

DDM Kamal Roy echoed this sentiment, underscoring NABARD's steadfast commitment to empowering SHG members through skill development and competence building. He shed light on NABARD's multifaceted developmental programs, sharing different success stories and the scope for value addition available from locally available items.

ZPC, Anjaw, Soblem Pul thanked NABARD and sought more support for the welfare of Rural People of the Anjaw District.

ZPM, Hayuliang, Anjoy Ama emphasized that the outcome of the training is more important. He advised SHGs not to sit idle after training but to become entrepreneurs and avail different government-sponsored schemes.

 

ArSRLM, BMM, Anthony Jugli, congratulated the trainees on their selection, urging them to embrace the entrepreneurial spirit fostered by skill training. He emphasized the profound impact of skill development in elevating the socio-economic status of rural communities, with a particular focus on SHGs.

Bhusan Rai, District Coordinator, SSRDPT, told SHGs to align their skills with qualifications to transform into entrepreneurs, he also highlighted the 3 days Happiness Programme where SHGs learnt the world-renowned breathing technique SUDARSHAN KRIYA and also learnt the yoga and meditation for a better mental and physical health.

As the MEDP takes flight in Hayuliang, it symbolises a transformative turning point in the lives of these women, sparking entrepreneurship that will illuminate their path to self-sufficiency and prosperity. The program holds the promise of transforming the rural landscape, empowering women to become not just entrepreneurs but catalysts for economic growth and social change.

Incidentally, the IEC van under Vikshit Bharat Sankalp Yatra conducted a programme and the beneficiaries recorded ‘meri kahani meri jubani’ on the occasion.
