Chandan Prasad, a young entrepreneur with altruistic nature and smiling face comes from a very humble background. Until few years ago, a soft spoken Prasad was an unknown face in the crowd of strangers.
Today, Prasad has become a familiar face with a name to reckon for. The journey of Prasad is an embodiment of dilligence and success.
On 02 November 1983 Prasad was born in a middle class family. His father fed the family by working as contractual worker in India Oil Corporation. His mother supported the family by selling self made handicrafts from home. He grew up with three more siblings, two elder sisters and a younger brother.
Divulging about his siblings Prasad said, "Both my sisters are married now and my younger brother runs his own scrap factory called Prasad Iron Company in Hyderabad."
Since his early age, Prasad was good in academics, a distinct student, he scored first division in his matriculation exam in 2000. He also excelled brilliantly in Class XII.
After passing out senior secondary, Prasad opted to join B.Com. Being from a middle class family with so many mouths to feed, it was not a smooth sailing for Prasad.
"I started a coaching class to support my family and higher studies," a poignant Prasad shared.
After graduating, I was willing for further studies but I had to suppress my educational ambition due to financial constraints, Prasad added.
Many years later, after achieving financial stability Prasad would pursue his hunger for education by joining LLB and MBA courses.
In the meantime, Prasad trampled his dream of post graduation courses and started looking for job to support his family. "Though it was a difficult period but I though it was better to fight back instead of shedding tears and sitting idle," Prasad disclosed.
During that difficult phase of life, Prasad worked for various companies in different designations to earn a living. Naming the private companies, he said, "I begin my employment journey with Dewsoft Overseas. As the year progressed I also worked for India Infoline Ltd, Aviva Life Insurance, HDFC SL, Indraprastha Academy, Ants Consulting Services Pvt Ltd, EduTrain Pvt Ltd and SSV Skills," Prasad shared.
Currently Prasad is based in Jairampur and through his NGO Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust, he has accomplished some impressive targets which helped the local unemployed youths to earn livelihood.
Prasads second innings began in 2009, the year he launched the pilot project in Jairampur which was to create awareness on information technology and computer education and for that he started Access IT Education in Changlang district.
In just five years, he was able to open 11 more computer centres in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
From the 11 centres, 03 of it is located in Changlang district (Jairampur, Kharsang and Miao). Nearly 7000 candidates has passed from this 11 computer centres so far and as now, 70% of these candidates are earning thier own livelihood.
In 2014, after the success of this pilot project, Prasad established the NGO BETHEL Life Care Charitable Trust with solitary objective to provide sustainable livelihood to underprivileged and unemployed youths.
With the help of the trust, Prasad laid the foundation stone for Martha Nursing Training School, an ANM Nursing School in Jairampur. This is the only institute in Tirap, Changlang and Longding district that has been recognised by Indian Nursing Council, Govt of India and approved by Arunachal Pradesh Nursing Council.
In 2017 BETHEL achieved another milestone as it was registered with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and empanelled to Department of Skill Development and Enterprenuership, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh.
A year later, in 2018, Prasad established the first skill development centre of eastern constituency in Miao subdivision under Pradhan Mantri Kausal Vikas Yojna to train the girls in tailoring and the boys were trained to become solar installations technicians. Until now, 240 girls has been trained for self employed tailoring job and 120 boys as solar panel installations technician for free.
Under the same flagship programme, in 2019, Prasad established second skill development centre in Jairampur in job role of nursing care assistant for school dropouts and students who couldn't afford ANM courses. 90 girls has been trained under the programme for free from Changlang district.
Prasad added another feather to his achievement by establishing Women Skill Development Centre in Jairampur. Through this scheme he has trained 120 candidates so for free.
Prasad said, my focus is to exert maximum support to the local unemployed youth of this area and I will keep working for thier welfare.
