Changlang, Oct 29:

In a weird turn of event, Changlang based Assam Rifles that was organising an Inter Village Volleyball Friendly Tournament called it off after only four matches on Tuesday at Rangkatu village, some 25 Km away from here.

The youths from three villages, Rangkatu, Kuchep I and Kuchep II divided into six teams participated in the inter village volleyball tournament. They were totally confused and disappointed when the organisers cancelled the other matches midway and departed from the village without any explanation.

They took plenty of photographs from start to finish with their banners in the backdrop. As a gift, they gave two nets, one was the net that was used in the tournament and 2 volleyball, disclosed one of the player from Rangkatu village.

He further said, they also staged a prize giving ceremony in which we were asked to hold empty gift wrapped packets for photo shootout.

They distributed some face mask which again was reused on different individuals to click photo, he added.

We were hoodwinked to play a tournament that was frivolous from the start shared a player who didn't wanted to be named. "Its tragic that our innocence was manipulated by the people that we consider to be friends of the hill people."
