Jairampur, 9th November 2022: The Micro Enterprise Development Program (MEDP) on “Candle Making” for SHGs launched at Jairampur on Wednesday, 9th November 2022.
The programme was sponsored by the NABARD, Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office and implemented by NGO, Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT). A total of 30 women of Jairampur area enrolled in the training on Candle Making. The training program of 15 days has been arranged in such a way that women attendees could start their own ventures.
DDM NABARD, Kamal Roy participated in the launching event as Chief Guest and Ms. Atu Yekar, Circle Officer, Jairampur as Guest of Honour. President BLCCT, Chandan Prasad and SHG members also attended the programme.
DDM NABARD Kamal Roy highlighted different developmental initiatives of NABARD for the upliftment of rural masses in farm and off-farm sectors. He said that NABARD is supporting need-based skill development programmes (MEDPs) for SHGs of rural areas. MEDPs are on-location skill development training programmes which attempt to bridge the skill deficits or facilitate optimisation of production activities already pursued by the SHG members.
CO, Jairampur, Atu Yekar advised women to participate in the training programme sincerely and to become an entrepreneur. She emphasized the scope and importance of such training that would enhance the socio-economic status of rural masses, especially women entrepreneurs.
BLCCT, President, Chandan Prasad explained the contents, implementing stages, the pattern of Candle making training, etc. He said that, in the developed world today, candles are used mainly for their aesthetic value and scent, particularly to set a soft, warm, or romantic ambiance, for emergency lighting during electrical power failures, and for religious or ritual purposes. This training will enable SHGs to learn and improve their skills in producing candles and connecting with the market.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Secretary, Aaram Aara SHG Mrs. Pohang Tikhak.
