Changlang, 7th September 2022: The Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) on Bakery and Food Products launched at Old Changlang on Wednesday, 7th September 2022.
The programme was sponsored by NABARD, Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office, Itanagar, which will be implemented by Changlang Community Resource Management Society (CCRMS).
The training will be provided to 30 members from different SHGs formed under NERCORMP. They will be trained on different bakery products along with the proper method of packaging and selling it to the market.
MEDPs are on-location skill development training programmes which attempt to bridge the skill deficits or facilitates optimization of production activities by the SHG members. The training program has been arranged in such a way that women attendees could start their own ventures. The training will be conducted for a period of 15 days for efficiently propagating the required skill for making various kinds of cake, bread, bun, patties, cookies etc.
DDM, NABARD, Kamal Roy, graced the inaugural occasion as Chief Guest and SBI, Branch Manager, Changlang Branch, Sumitra Singha as Guest of Honour.
DDM, NABARD, Kamal Roy informed that MEDPs had been introduced to build up skill and competence of SHG members to take up micro enterprises. The studies and feedback on the impact of the programme revealed that skill development and self-confidence for enterprise promotion by the SHG members who had been covered under MEDPs had been greatly enhanced from the training inputs provided under the Programme. They have been enabled to get incremental income and additional employment created by the activities pursued after MEDP training, when compared to the pre-MEDP situation. He also highlighted different developmental programmes of NABARD for the benefits of SHGs and farmers.
While giving the welcome address, District Project Director, CCRMS, Nonju Simai Tikhak stated that the programme is being conducted to enhance the production quantity by maintaining quality, keeping in mind, the demand of food processing and bakery products in the area. This would empower rural women for better income and self-sustenance. She also emphasized the scope and importance of skill training that would enhance the socio–economic status of rural masses, especially women entrepreneurs.
BM SBI, Sumitra Singha, motivated the SHGs to take up activities in serious manner for sustainable income generation and to be competitive in market, especially in terms of pricing and quality. He said that wider dissemination of information will cater good participants in this kind of trainings. It was another step towards women empowerment and asked SHGs to utilized the platform to its best. He assured all support for credit linkage of SHGs after the completion of training from Bank side.
