Changlang, 16th February 2023: The Training Programme on “Food Processing / Pickle Making” for SHGs of Changlang HQ and nearby villages under the Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) was concluded here on Thursday.
The programme was sponsored by NABARD, Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office which was implemented by Changlang Community Resource Management Society (CCRMS) under the aegis of NERCRMS (North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Society) and NEC.
More than 30 SHG members have undergone 15 days of training which was arranged in such a way that women attendees could start their own ventures.
District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD, Kamal Roy attended the event as Chief Guest; Deputy Director Industries (DDI), N Mossang as a Guest of Honour; DPD, CCRMS, Nanju Simai Tikhak; Deputy Manager, Punjab National Bank, Sanjay Kumar; Branch Manager, Apex Bank, Changlang Branch, Manchu Haisa and SHG members also participated in the valedictory programme.
DDM NABARD, Kamal Roy congratulated the SHG members for completing the training. He urged them to maintain the quality of the pickles and other food products. He highlighted the importance of an FSSAI license for food products and obtaining permission from the legal metrology department for their weight machines and get it checked and certified.
He also highlighted Off-farm Producer Organization (OFPO), which is a formal rural entity formed by artisans, weavers, craftsmen, etc., to promote rural enterprises, generate local employment through value addition, design innovation and development, processing, brand-building, creation of storage and logistics infrastructure, aggregation, mechanization and development of technology, develop strong forward and backward linkages, ensure better income realization, profit distribution, which ultimately brings in sustainable and inclusive development through collectivization and formalization.
DM, PNB, Kumar emphasized the production of finished products with market linkage keeping competitive prices. Further, he congratulated CCRMS for implementing the training successfully and also advised SHG members to frame a business model and start production on a small scale.
DDI, Industries, Mossang congratulated the trainees on the completion of MEDP training and also encourage them to become entrepreneurs now. She emphasized the scope and importance of skill training that would enhance the socio-economic status of rural masses, especially women entrepreneurs. She highlighted various schemes implemented by Industries Department such as PMEGP, PMFME etc.
Earlier, while delivering the keynote address, DPD, CCRMS, Nanju Simai Tikhak stated that the programme was conducted to enhance the production by maintaining the quality and demand of various products like pickles, jam, candies, tapioca chips, etc. from locally available resources. She thanked NABARD for financial assistance and requested SHGs to start livelihood activities and earn an additional source of income for their respective families.
The valedictory programme was concluded with certificate distribution to the trainee SHGs.
