16th September 2023, Mudoi, Diyun: The Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) focusing on the food processing of bakery products for SHGs culminated on Saturday in Mudoi Village, Diyun Circle, District Changlang. The initiative was made possible through the support of the "National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD)" and was skilfully executed by the Namsai Organic Spices and Agricultural Products (NOSAAP) Producer Co. Ltd., a farmers' producers’ company situated in Namsai.

Comprising more than 30 members from diverse SHGs, the programme provided comprehensive training on a wide array of bakery products, including cakes, pastries, muffins, cupcakes, doughnuts, and cookies, and offered valuable insights into packaging and effective marketing strategies. MEDPs, orchestrated by NABARD, are on-location skill development training programmes that seek to bridge skill gaps and optimize production activities for SHG members.

The valedictory event was graced by DDM NABARD, Kamal Roy, and attended by the CEO of NOSAAP, Chau Athina Chauhai, alongside members of the SHGs. During the event, DDM NABARD, Kamal Roy, encouraged the SHGs to establish a bakery unit in Mudoi with financial support from banks. Mr. Roy elucidated the multifaceted role and importance of SHGs in rural areas.

Expressing gratitude, CEO NOSAAP thanked all the stakeholders involved in the programme, including NABARD, trainers, and SHGs. Looking forward, he conveyed the organization’s commitment to implementing more MEDP programmes and other capacity-building schemes to enhance livelihood opportunities for unemployed women. Additionally, essential bakery equipment such as OTGs and mixers were provided to the SHGs for communal utilization, enabling them to market their products effectively.

Participants enthusiastically shared their training experiences and commended NABARD and NOSAAP for bringing such valuable training opportunities to their locality. The training not only empowered them with new skills but also saved them the effort and expense of traveling outside their state.
