Empowering SHGs in Namsai: Incense Stick, Handmade Soap, and Tailoring Training Successfully Concluded

Staff Reporter:

Namsai, 20th October 2023: The recently concluded training sessions on Incense Stick, Handmade Soap, and tailoring for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) mark a significant step towards skill development and self-reliance in Namsai. These programmes were made possible through the generous sponsorship of NABARD and the support of the Zilla Parishad Chairman (ZPC) Namsai, utilizing State Own Revenue (SOR) from the Panchayati Raj Department.

The Micro-Enterprise Development Program (MEDP) focused on Incense Stick and Handmade Soap manufacturing was expertly executed by Namsai Organic Spices and Agricultural Products (NOSAAP) Producer Co. Ltd., a local farmers' producers company. Meanwhile, the Skill Development Programme (SDP) in tailoring was carried out in collaboration between Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust and the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM).

The event saw esteemed dignitaries in attendance, with Nang Urmila Mancheykhun, ZPC Namsai, gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour, S. Mining, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), along with Dr. Sharma, District Planning Officer (DPO), and Kamal Roy, DDM from NABARD, added to the event's significance. Representatives from ArSRLM, NOSAAP, BLCCT and various SHG members were also present.

A noteworthy addition to Namsai's entrepreneurial landscape is the "HUNG TUAN" incense stick-making machine, imported from Vietnam, renowned for being one of the most advanced machines in its category globally. This state-of-the-art equipment promises to empower SHG members by enabling them to manufacture their brand of incense sticks, expanding their presence not only in Namsai but also in neighboring regions. Additionally, various machines, including Sewing Machines, Soap Making Bases, and Moulds, were funded by ZPC through SOR to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and the training components were generously sponsored by NABARD.

Motivational words were shared by DPO, ArSRLM Officials, DDM NABARD, and ADC, who encouraged SHG members to develop their brand and make their products readily available in the market.

The ZPC, Namsai, extends heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders for their instrumental role in successfully implementing this training program, fostering economic empowerment and self-sufficiency in the community.
