NABARD-Backed Skill Development Program Launches Training for Unarmed Security Guards in Namsai

Namsai, December 27, 2023: A comprehensive Skill Development Programme on "Unarmed Security Guard" for rural unemployed youths in Namsai District was inaugurated on Wednesday. This initiative, supported by NABARD and implemented by the NGO, Bethel Life Care Charitable Trust (BLCCT), aims to equip more than 30 trainees with the necessary skills for employment opportunities as unarmed security guards in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.

The launch event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Dr. Keshab Sharma, District Planning Officer; Kamal Roy, District Development Manager, NABARD; APP, Inspector Tashi Yangi; ArSRLM's BMM Ronald Dkhar Baghwar, and Chandan Prasad, President of BLCCT, along with resource persons and trainees.

DPO, Dr. Keshab Sharma highlighted the pressing issue of unemployment in Namsai district, emphasizing that approximately 36.7% of youths are currently unemployed. He commended NABARD for sponsoring this placement-linked training programme and expressed gratitude to BLCCT for executing the skill development initiative. Dr. Sharma encouraged the trainees to exhibit persistence and dedication, stressing the importance of acquiring distinct skills for enhanced employability. He motivated them to uphold the dignity of labour and self-esteem in the workplace, envisioning a promising future for the youth.

DDM NABARD, Kamal Roy, shed light on NABARD's various developmental initiatives for rural upliftment. He emphasized the affordability and effectiveness of unarmed security guards as a visible deterrent, promoting the importance of their role in safeguarding properties. Roy encouraged the youths to actively participate in the training programme, stressing the significance of daily attendance.

Officer Incharge Tashi Yangi applauded the commendable step taken by BLCCT and District Administration to restructure the lives of youths through this training. He congratulated the trainees, envisioning this training as a gateway to a constructive future. Yangi urged the participants to seek placements in security agencies and explore experiences in metro cities.

BMM ArSRLM Ronald Dkhar Baghwar congratulated the trainees on their selection for the Skill Development Programme, emphasizing the importance of participation in placement-linked training. He advised the trainees to focus on communication skills and overall personality development, recognizing their role in the profession of unarmed security guards.

President BLCCT, Chandan Prasad, provided insights into the syllabus, curriculum, training duration, and objectives of the Unarmed Security Guard Skill Development Training. He highlighted the tie-up arrangements with security guard placement agencies in cities, ensuring placement opportunities for trainees who complete the training and interview session.
