KIMLONG LONGRI, YOUTH LEADER, LONGMAN VILLAGE

Kimlong Longri, first came to public notice when he worked as election agent for the incumbent MLA Laisam Simai in 2014. Since than he has been climbing the stair of success in regional politics with each passing day. Born on 2 September 1986 at Manmao village, Longri comes from a very humble background. He is the son of Kimpot Longri who then worked as casual labour in Department of Power. His mother is a simple housewife.  He has three siblings. Longri is currently a resident of Longman village. Longri passed his matriculation and senior secondary with distinction from Govt Hr Sec School, Nampong. He did his graduation (BA (Hons) political science) from Rangfrah Govt College Changlang. Further, he completed master in political science from Rajiv Gandhi University, Doimukh. He has also qualified for National Eligibility Test for lecturer. 

Since an early age he began his foray in students politics.During his schooling years, he served as assistant general secretary (2002-03) and later as general secretary (2003-04)  while studying in Govt Higher Secondary School Nampong. Later in RFG College, during the initial years he was the assistant general secretary (2004-2005) and in his senior years he served as acting GS (2005). During that period (2004-2007), he was also the convenor of Tangsa Students Union. In 2014 Longri began his journey in regional politics. In 2014 and 2019 Assembly election he was the election agent of MLA Laisam Simai. In order to understand the ground realities, he accepted the post  of 51st Nampong Mandal, ST Morcha and served as its president from 2017 to 2019. And since 2019 he has been serving as Mandal President, 51st Nampong Constituency. He is also the interim committee member of 10/1 Khamdu GPC.

Longri said, "I'm here to serve my bretherns whichever way possible. I can't say about the future but currently I'm enjoying the post I'm in and I will try to help as many people possible."
